NUBIA WILLIAMS
Daughter of a visual artist and an academic, Nubia, grew up in Los Angeles, CA surrounded by inspiring art, stories, and vibrant culture that ignited her experimentation with different media as soon as she could control a brush. At age 5, Nubia made small collages of women dressed in bold patterned fabric scraps, leading to her first commissioned sale of $35. As the demand grew greater and greater, it became clear that Nubia was born to be in the fashion industry.
Nubia is a Parsons School of Design alumnus with a BFA in Fashion Design. Despite earning this degree and designing commissioned looks since the age of 17, she was met with numerous closed doors during her hunt for a role in the industry. Deciding to build her own door, Williams launched womenswear brand, BrandNUbia, during Boston Fashion Week 2015. Since then, she has been featured in publications such as Boston Globe Magazine, Boston Magazine, Man Repeller, WCVB ABC, NBC and more, opening numerous doors soon after.
Nubia is a storyteller creating visual and wearable experiences through the art of design. She’s worked with women’s ready-to-wear and lifestyle brands such as J.Jill and Converse and currently leads multi-faceted creative teams at sports brand, PUMA. With her holistic understanding of branding and diverse creative background, she has the innate ability to amplify both personal and professional brands with innovative design and concepts that authentically illustrate their spirit.
